Your first hour

  1. Sign in with Google on play.insomniaworld.com and create your hero: race, class, path, look and name.
  2. You wake at the Traveller’s Lodge in Dawn Vale. Talk to the people with a mark above their heads to take quests.
  3. Follow the golden trail on the ground to your quest goal. Hunt the Wild Wolves in the clearings north of the Lodge.
  4. Return to the quest giver for experience, coins and items. Open the skill tree (K) and spend your first points.
  5. Visit Master Smith Torvald and Healer Elowen in town. Set your home at an innkeeper so you respawn close by.

Levelling and regions

The level cap is 40. You earn experience from monsters and from quests; monsters far below your level give less. Each region has its own level range:

RegionLevels
Dawn ValeLv 1–8
Cedar WatchLv 1–8
Rocksplit StreamLv 8–15
Fern RoadLv 8–15
Mist HollowsLv 15–24
Amber GroveLv 15–24
Crown RidgeLv 24–40
Far PinesLv 24–40

Skills and ranks

  • Each path has twelve active skills, unlocked from level 1 to level 28, nine passives in three branches and one ultimate at level 32.
  • Spend skill points in the skill tree (K). Each rank adds 12% power; a new rank opens every three levels.
  • The ultimate needs ten points spent in its path and has three ranks at levels 32, 35 and 38.
  • Drag skills to the hotbar and cast them with 1 to 5. Warriors use Rage; every other class uses Mana.

Items, bag and upgrades

Monsters drop coins, potions and equipment. Equipment comes in five rarities — Common, Magic, Rare, Unique and Legendary — and higher rarities roll up to four bonus lines. Open the bag with I.

Upgrading at the smith

Master Smith Torvald upgrades weapons and armour up to +9. Each attempt costs coins and a seal. A Blessing Scroll adds +10 points to the chance up to +6, and +5 points above that. At +9 an item’s base stats are about ×1.9.

+7 → +820%Gold SealThe item is destroyed
+8 → +910%Gold SealThe item is destroyed

From +6 the risk is real: a failed Gold Seal attempt destroys the item. A Protection Charm (dropped by bosses and elites) saves it — the item falls back to +6 instead.

Item Master Alaric takes five pieces of equipment you no longer need and gives you a new one.

The smith’s upgrade window: a sword at +8 with a 10% chance to reach +9.

Potions and the way home

  • Health potions (key 6) and mana potions (key 7) sit on your hotbar.
  • Potions drop from monsters and quest rewards.
  • The return slot on the hotbar (key 0) takes you back to town.

Parties

  • A party has two to four players. Only the leader invites: click a player’s name above their head or in chat and choose the invite.
  • Experience is shared between members within 40 m, with a bonus of 10% for each extra member (+30% for a full party).
  • Items drop to members in turn and coins are split evenly. Quest kills count for every eligible member.
  • Members far below the highest level in the party earn less, and nothing at ten or more levels behind.

Chat

  • Press Enter to write. Tabs: General, Party and Whisper.
  • Type /p before a message for party chat, or /w and a name to whisper.
  • Be kind. Abuse can be reported to [email protected].

Death and respawn

  • When your health runs out you fall and respawn at your home inn. Without a home you respawn at the Traveller’s Lodge.
  • Talk to an innkeeper and choose “Set this as your home”. It is free.
  • Below level 10 falling costs nothing. From level 10 you lose part of your experience.

The safe town

  • The town and the area around the Lodge are safe: monsters do not follow you in.
  • Healer Elowen restores your health and mana for free when you are nearby and out of combat.
  • Smiths, the item master, innkeepers and quest givers all live in town.
